Whether you are coordinating after-school programming or are looking for an innovative program to offer at a community center or library, Mad Science offers a range of flexible and affordable after-school programs.

Our programs:

After School Program Descriptions

System 1 - Crazy Chemworks

Grades 1-7, 4-8 sessions

Whats the difference between an acid and a base? Are they dangerous? What's a chemical reaction? In this series of classes, students will learn to use lab gear, measure pH, and speed up and slow down reactions.  A different chemistry topic and cool take-home each week. .

Topics:  pH Phactor, Junior Reactors, Chem in a Flash, Dry Ice Capades, Lab Works, Super Sticky Stuff, Slime Time, Glow Show 

System 2 - Lights, Sights and Sounds

Grades 1-7, 4-8 sessions

Ever wonder how a magnet can tell us where to go, or what makes our sodas fizzy?  In this series, students will alter their voices with amazing sound effects, build the world's simplest motor, and see what fireworks and astronomy have in common.

System 3 - Currents, Chemistry and Forces

Grades 1-7, 4-8 sessions

Children will play engineer, chemist and stunt pilot then investigate  physics fundamentals and bring their scientific minds to basic magic tricks. Your Mad Scientists will be shocked by what they learn about electricity, blown away by their experiments with air pressure, and swept away by the excitement of working with waves!

System 4 - Inventive Investigation

Grades 1-6, 4-8 sessions

How do bugs defend themselves? How is cooking related to chemistry and toys related to science? What forces have shaped our planet? Children will uncover the vital roll that science plays in detective work,  examine the science behind popular toys and get a buzz out the amazing world of insects! Your Mad Scientist will explore Earth Science, weather phenomena, and experiment with some kitchen chemistry! Children will build their own Mad Science Machine, and learn how to create a short animated cartoon!

System 5 - Science Explorations

Grades 1-6, 4-8 sessions

Science can be exotic and unusual, or in stuff you use every day! How do we stick stuff together? How do we stick to the earth? What makes something fly fast or drop s-l-o-w-l-y? How do we make things that glow? See how we have put science to work in the world around us!

Secret Agent Lab

Grades 1-6, 4-8 sessions

Take a walk on the wild side in this crazy week of sleuth science!  Investigate a pretend crime scene and decode secret messages. Crack a security system designed by your classmates, and learn how some cool technology used in the spy world.

NASA Journey Into Outer Space

Grades 2-7, 4-8 sessions

From our Earth’s atmosphere to the outer reaches of our solar system, this hands-on program for children ages 5-12 sends them on a quest for exploration! Comets, planets, stars and more are all waiting to be discovered. Learn about the four forces of flight, the challenges of space travel, and participate in a rocket launch!

Brixology: Shape the world

Grades 1-6, 4-8 sessions

Explore engineering fields including mechanical, structural, aerospace, nautical and bioengineering. Building different projects students use critical thinking, cooperation, and creative problem solving to test and improve creations. The camper will have a couple of projects to take home.
